Juniper have been used in bonsai from the start. They are excellent subjects and provide enormous design possibilities for anyone that wants to get to grips with styling their own tree from scratch. There are two main types of foliage. Soft scale foliage like that of the shimpaku varieties Itoigawa and Kishu is highly desirable. The needle type foliage that is found on the procumbens and other varieties have a huge range of different characteristics.
Easy to care for and fairly forgiving for all levels of bonsai enthusiast.
