NURSERY NEWS

JULY 2025

It's been a strenuous year so far. Not just for the trees, but for me too.

Many of you will be aware of my hospitalization due to a chest infection.

While in hospital the doctors found a nodule in my right lung that they suspect is a cancer. I am doing my best to remain positive about treatment when it begins and to endeavor to get back to something like a normal routine.

The nodule.
The nodule.

Since I left hospital in early late May I have managed to get to the nursery three times with the help of my friends John and Nick. I currently need help to get my electric wheelchair into the van at home and then get it out again at the nursery. This obviously limits the opportunities to get in to work on the trees

There is an awful lot to catch up on. Lots of general pruning and de-wiring. As well as cleaning up the place.

We are potting up the satsuki cuttings that were taken last year now they have made it through their first winter.

These include a dozen or so new varieties to BSW. I anticipate they will be ready to ship out by mid September or thereabouts.

We also have to get a stock take done so that we know what we've got.

When that is done, I will be able to put some bargain bundles together for selling off cheap and clear some space out ready for more azaleas 😁.

Shipping out orders is getting back to normal somewhat. Nick or John pick up the orders from the nursery within a couple of days and then bring them over for packing up and shipping out.

When I can load the wheelchair into the van myself, shipping will get back to the usual service.

I will keep updating the blog so that you all know what happening.

In the meantime, I would like to say a huge thankyou to all of you that have sent me positive encouragement and kind words.

Thankyou all very much.

Fred
